Ukraine has restored half of its energy capacity – Minister of Energy.

Ukraine lost 10 GW of generating capacity due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure in 2024. Only half of that has been restored. This was announced by Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, citing «Glavkom».
5 GW was returned to the system through the Energy Support Fund, which has raised over 1 billion euros. Applications from companies for assistance from the Fund exceed the budget. Another 5 billion euros is needed to cover the urgent needs of the energy sector.
Russia has carried out over 30 massive strikes on Ukraine's energy facilities during three years of war. During each attack, power plants, substations, power lines, and gas facilities were deliberately destroyed.
In addition to the losses in energy generation, Russian shelling has also affected gas extraction. During this Time, the occupiers seized 18 GW of Ukraine's capacity.
The European Commission predicts the integration of Ukraine's and Moldova's energy markets into the European market

The goal is to ensure a resilient, safe, and competitive energy system for the country. The President also noted that Europe provided Ukraine with 1.8 GW of electricity during this winter.
