According to the data from the Minfin portal, supermarkets displayed price changes for cucumbers and tomatoes after the New Year holidays.
The New Year holidays are over, but many Ukrainians cannot imagine their diet without fresh vegetables. In particular, cucumbers and tomatoes, which are typically used in salads and snacks. Price analysis in major retail chains showed different dynamics in January 2025.
Almost all categories of cucumbers increased their prices. If in December the average price for regular cucumbers was 115.69 UAH/kg, in January it rose to 119.90 UAH/kg. Long varieties of cucumbers significantly became more expensive - from 148.32 to 179 UAH/kg. However, smooth cucumbers became cheaper - from 165.90 to 158.27 UAH/kg.
As for tomatoes, the situation is more stable. The price for red tomatoes slightly increased - from 122.36 to 133.37 UAH/kg. Pink tomatoes showed a greater increase - from 144.38 to 169.90 UAH/kg. However, the price for the 'plum' variety of tomatoes slightly decreased - from 153.16 to 150 UAH/kg.
In the Novus chain, you can currently find the most affordable prices for red tomatoes (98.69 UAH/kg), while in Metro - for regular cucumbers (119.90 UAH/kg).
