The president's representative explained where military personnel most often flee from.

The majority of cases of unauthorized departure from the military unit relate to training centers, not combat positions. This was reported by the president's representative Olga Reshetilova.
According to her, 'the absolute majority of cases are from training centers, not from combat positions.'
Reshetilova noted that these individuals decide to leave the unit after they have completed basic military training and started serving with other servicemen.
The representative believes that such individuals should be held criminally responsible if they do not return by March 1.
She also emphasized that she does not intend to interfere in the affairs of those whose rights are not violated and considers their choice to be their own responsibility.
In addition, Reshetilova noted that there is another group of servicemen who cannot leave combat positions due to a lack of opportunity for leave or transfer.
She is confident that systemic solutions are needed to create conditions that do not force people to make choices regarding military service.
Reshetilova noted that she, the committee of the Verkhovna Rada, and the Ministry of Defense are working on this.
It should be noted that servicemen who deserted after November 29, 2024, cannot return to service and avoid criminal responsibility.
The previously adopted law on voluntary return to service provides for the possibility of continued service for those who were the first to leave the unit or desert.
