In Italy, a bar fines for swearing and obscene language
Visitors to a bar in the Italian region of Veneto will be fined one euro for every obscene word. This was reported by 'Glavcom' referring to Antena3.
«Visitors who swear in the bar in Italy will be fined one euro for each insult. This is a restaurant located in the Veneto region, where swearing is often a common expression, as widespread as it is annoying, especially when children and families are nearby», - the journalists write.
The establishment is called 'Mexico', and the owners claim that elderly people often use foul language when watching football or discussing politics.
The owners hung a poster inside warning about fines. Shortly after fines began to be issued, at least 150 euros were collected from visitors. The money was donated to an organization that helps the elderly and sick. At the same Time, the owners of the restaurant 'Mexico' emphasized that the spirit of the initiative is positive: it is not about punishment, but about empowering people to overcome the bad habit of swearing in public, and possibly to elicit smiles from visitors.
As the publication writes, this initiative is not new in Italy; previously, another bar in Veneto introduced 'subscriptions' for swearing - a 'package' of three swear words cost 2.5 euros.
Moreover, not only in bars in Italy do interesting measures occur to improve the atmosphere among visitors and put an end to foul language. Such initiatives may prove effective in enhancing the overall mood and reducing the level of aggression among people.
