According to Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba, currently 460 communities in Ukraine are temporarily occupied by Russian troops, and another 160 communities are under the influence of active hostilities. He emphasized the importance of decentralization and stated that the government will grant more powers to local self-government bodies. A draft law was also announced that will reform state administrations into prefectural-type management bodies.
'The main component of this reform (the decentralization reform - ed.) is people, community leaders. No reforms, no partners could change every community leader who found himself in a terrible situation at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. And 160 community leaders continue to be in such a situation because this is the number of communities currently under the influence of active hostilities. At the same Time, 460 communities are temporarily occupied. And we are talking about 460 community leaders whom we must support,' the government official said.
