Electricity prices increased in Ukraine: what awaits consumers in the coming months.

The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NCERPU) announced a change in electricity tariffs for consumers of the 'last resort' supplier (LRS) from October 1 to the end of 2024.
According to the commission's decision, the coefficient for determining electricity prices for LRS clients will increase from 1.25 to 1.5 for the next three months. This coefficient is applied to the weighted average electricity price in the day-ahead market (DAM).
The reason for increasing the coefficient is the large-scale attacks on Ukraine's energy system, which have led to an increase in electricity costs for settling imbalances. It is also considered that the 'last resort' supplier - the state enterprise Ukrinterenergo - is in 'Default' status and forced to buy electricity for its consumers on the balancing market.
Ukrinterenergo has approached the NCERPU with a proposal to increase the coefficient, emphasizing that the cost of electricity for settling imbalances already exceeds the weighted average actual price on the DAM even with the current coefficient of 1.25.
In addition to changing electricity tariffs, 'Ukrenergo' proposed new tariffs for electricity transportation.
Currently, the level of electricity consumption corresponds to seasonal indicators, but due to hostilities and other reasons, 553 settlements were out of power in the morning. It is recommended to use powerful electrical appliances during daytime hours from 10:00 to 16:00.
Yesterday, a daily peak of electricity consumption was recorded, exceeding last Sunday's value by 4.2% due to a drop in temperatures in most regions of Ukraine.
Ukraine also imports electricity from Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova.
Due to hostilities, some settlements in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions are out of power, and due to bad weather - in Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, and Volyn regions. There are also power outages for consumers in Kirovohrad and Zaporizhzhia regions for technical reasons.
