War Along the Front Line: British Politologist Mark Galeotti Discussed the Diplomatic and Economic Battles Surrounding Ukraine.

War in Ukraine
British political scientist Mark Galeotti reveals the global dimensions of the war in Ukraine and discusses the lesser-known aspects of the Russian military campaign. According to him, the Russian Federation recruits foreign mercenaries from other countries. For example, North Korea has already sent 10-12 thousand of its soldiers, and Russia is actively recruiting Yemenis by offering them citizenship and high salaries.
According to Galeotti, the Russian side suffers significant losses every month - about 50,000 killed and wounded. Since Putin was unable to conduct mass mobilization in 2022, he had to recruit foreign militants.
Moreover, the conflict has a global nature and receives international support. Iran supplies Russia with drones and missiles, North Korea provides ammunition, and China supplies technical equipment. Approximately 20,000 foreign soldiers serve in Ukraine's International Legion, mainly acting as advisors and instructors.
Political scientist: 'The world is experiencing a global transformation of conflict, where traditional notions of war are changing under the influence of international alliances and economic interests.'
One illustrative example is Russia's attempt to weaken support for Ukraine through cyberattacks, information manipulation, and diplomatic pressure on Western countries.
Putin's main goal is to advance the occupying troops as far as possible before the inauguration of the new US president, which will take place in January.
Galeotti emphasizes that despite the West's efforts to isolate Russia, it continues to operate within the global financial system, using alternative mechanisms.
