Military personnel will be able to return from AWOL thanks to 'Army+'.

The 'Army+' application has added the option to submit a report for returning to service after going AWOL. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Defense Kateryna Chernohorets during a telethon.
Just now, the Verkhovna Rada approved a law that exempts military personnel from responsibility for their first desertion or AWOL if they voluntarily return to service.
We added functionality to 'Army+' so that service members can initiate a report to return to service after AWOL and quickly resume their duties, receive social guarantees, their salary, and return to the unit where they want to serve,' Chernohorets stated.
The official also noted that no sanctions will be applied to military personnel who are returning from AWOL for the first Time. After submitting the report and its processing, the military will receive a message about their arrival at a new reserve battalion.
This is a temporary point from which they can transfer to a chosen unit where they trust the commanders, soldiers, and feel motivated. That is, 72 hours to process the report, 24 hours to arrive at the reserve battalion, and then through 'Army+' they can submit a request to transfer to their target military unit,' Chernohorets explained.
We remind you that the Verkhovna Rada has passed a law on voluntary return to service for those who have voluntarily left military units or deserted for the first time.
It has also become known that military personnel who voluntarily left their units for the first time have begun to return to the front.
Service members who left their posts voluntarily for the first time have until January 1, 2025, to return.
Earlier, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Anatolii Burhyliev noted that the number of cases of service members going AWOL may decrease. This may be due to an increase in basic military training periods, as a frequent reason for going AWOL is psychological issues.
