Things stolen, flag damaged. Vandals desecrated the grave of a soldier in Sumy.


In the Sumy region, the police are investigating a case of desecration of a serviceman's grave, reports the 'Glavkom' portal. According to the police, the wife of the deceased discovered the disappearance of memorial items from the burial site and damage to the state flag of Ukraine.
A criminal proceeding has been opened in this case under Article 297 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The police urge citizens who have any information about the crime or the individuals involved to inform the police or call 102.
The investigation continues, and the police are conducting search measures to identify those involved in this crime.
A similar situation also occurred in the Odessa region, where memorial portraits on the graves of two soldiers were damaged. Law enforcement established that the perpetrators were two 13-year-old boys. The incident took place in a local cemetery, and both teenagers have difficult life circumstances.
The criminal who desecrated the serviceman's grave received a sentence from the Lipovets District Court. The man will spend four years in prison for this crime. According to the police, the 30-year-old offender desecrated the burial site and fled the scene after being found in an intoxicated state. He tore the photo of the deceased from the cross and threw away the statuette.
