Elected President Donald Trump could lift restrictions on the supply of heavy weapons to Ukraine and strengthen energy sanctions against Russia in order to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to sit at the negotiating table. This was stated by future U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz in an interview with ABC News.

According to Waltz, Trump is ready to take certain steps, including lifting restrictions on supplying heavy weapons to Ukraine in order to force Putin to sit at the negotiating table.

However, Waltz did not specify which exact steps need to be taken.

One of the tools to influence Putin, according to Waltz, is energy sanctions. Their introduction will make Ukraine stronger and Putin more inclined to negotiations.

«The economy and military machinery of Putin will quickly weaken. I believe this will force Putin to sit at the negotiating table. We have tools of influence, such as lifting restrictions on the supply of heavy weapons, which we have also transferred to Ukraine», - said the advisor to the elected U.S. president.

Recall that elected U.S. President Donald Trump criticized the Biden administration's decision to allow Ukrainian forces to carry out long-range strikes on Russian territory.

Trump also expressed dissatisfaction with the strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russia with Atacms missiles, considering this unacceptable. In response to a question about his support for Ukraine, Trump noted that he would use it as a tool of pressure on Russia during negotiations to end the war.

Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden, two months before the end of his term, allowed Ukrainian military to use long-range Atacms missiles for strikes on Russia for the first Time.

By the way, on November 19, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a military facility on Russian territory for the first time using American-made Atacms ballistic missiles.
