Meeting of Zelensky with Parolin and the transfer of the list of Ukrainians held in Russian prisons

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, had a conversation with the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, regarding peace and handed over a list of Ukrainians detained in Russian prisons.

Zelensky also wished for the recovery of Pope Francis and thanked him for the moral support of the Ukrainian people. The president expressed special gratitude for the Vatican's assistance in the return of Ukrainian children deported by Russia.

'The Holy See has received a list of Ukrainians held in Russian prisons and camps. We count on support for their release,' said Zelensky.

Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready to make the first swift steps towards achieving a just and lasting peace, including swapping prisoners and introducing an unconditional 30-day ceasefire regime.

'The Ukrainian people long for peace the most. Now we see how Russia is trying to complicate the situation and prolong the process, as it is the main subject that does not want the war to end and diplomatic agreements to be broken,' emphasized Zelensky.

The president noted the importance of the voice of the Holy See on the path to peace and expressed gratitude for the willingness to make efforts to achieve a common goal.

'Thank you for the prayers for Ukraine and peace,' added Zelensky.
