Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the country does not recognize the occupied territories as part of Russia. He made this statement in an interview with NBC News. Instead, Ukraine will seek a diplomatic way to regain these territories.
Zelensky also noted that Ukraine is ready to discuss the return of the territories through diplomatic means, especially if its NATO membership is guaranteed. The President emphasized that the priority is not to lose lives.
The President also responded to a question about the possibility of Ukraine winning the war militarily. He replied that such a possibility exists, but it comes with a significant number of losses. Zelensky also pointed out that without the help of partners it will be difficult and protracted.
The President previously expressed confidence in an interview with ITV News that the Ukrainian flag would fly again in Sevastopol, Mariupol, and Donetsk. He also answered a question about whether the war would end in 2025.
The day before, Trump advisor Michael Waltz stated that the war in Ukraine should end with diplomatic negotiations, as it is not realistic to expel the Russians from all occupied territories.
