Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Emmanuel Macron for supporting Ukraine and military assistance. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, France has provided defense support worth 6 billion euros.

During the meeting, the leaders discussed opportunities to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities from France, which would bolster our state's positions for achieving a just and lasting peace.

Particular attention was paid to security cooperation and, in particular, possible formats of security guarantees for Ukraine and all of Europe.

In addition, Ukraine expects support from France and personally from Emmanuel Macron in the negotiation process for joining the EU.

It should be recalled that President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Poland to participate in events marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of one of the largest Nazi death camps - Auschwitz-Birkenau.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Today, January 27, the world commemorates International Holocaust Remembrance Day. During World War II, the genocide orchestrated by the Nazi regime led to the extermination of a third of all Jews in the world and members of several other nationalities.

The President of Ukraine honored the memory of the Holocaust victims. He lit a lamp at the memorial sign 'Menorah' at the National Historical-Memorial Reserve 'Babyn Yar'. As Zelensky emphasized, the crime of the Holocaust must never be repeated, but gradually the memory of it is becoming weaker. At the same Time, the evil that seeks to annihilate the lives of entire nations still remains in the world.
