Ship Collision in the North Sea: The Captain of the Cargo Ship Turned Out to Be Russian.

The captain of the vessel Solong, which collided with the tanker Stena Immaculate off the coast of England, turned out to be a citizen of Russia. This is reported by Reuters.
According to the German company Ernst Russ, which owns the container ship, the crew consisted of Russians and Filipinos. Solong crashed into the American tanker Stena Immaculate, which was carrying aviation fuel for the needs of the U.S. Army.
A fire broke out on both vessels due to the collision, but the crews were able to evacuate, except for one sailor from Solong.
The next day, British police arrested the captain of Solong on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter.
It was reported that there were 15 containers of toxic sodium cyanide on board Solong, but this information was later denied by Ernst Russ.
The accident in the North Sea occurred due to a collision between an oil tanker and a cargo ship.
In December 2024, the vessel Sparta, which Russians used to transport their military from Syria, broke down in open sea. A Russian tanker registered under the Panama flag also temporarily blocked vessel traffic through the Bosphorus Strait. The vessel Siyanije Severa ran aground in the Gibraltar area.
