How do Russians use Western media? Explains the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.

The head of the Centre for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council Andriy Kovalenko noted that even reputable Western media can accept Russian propaganda, which aims to clutter the information space and discredit Ukraine. Depending on how to cooperate with the media.
Kovalenko noted that Western editorial offices do not have a standard template where Ukrainians are defined as positive and Russians as negative. The speed and reliability of the information provided by journalists is crucial. Those who deliver information faster and better, who have better connections, gain an advantage.
To counter Russian propaganda, the Centre collaborates with foreign media, including the USA, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. They help journalists understand the true state of affairs.
Kovalenko explained that it is important to refute even subtle Russian 'fakes'. Young people aged 10-14, who do not always recognize the disinformation spread by Russia, should be particularly attentive.
He also noted that the most important directions of Russian information activities are currently aimed at discrediting mobilization in Ukraine and delegitimizing Ukrainian authorities in the West.
