Every day at 9 AM, Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Anatolii Loyuk.

Defending Ukraine, on March 31, 2023, in the area of the settlement of Avdiivka, the commander of the second combat group of the first separate special police unit 'Omega', Major, Hero of Ukraine Anatolii Mykolaiovych Loyuk was killed. This was reported by 'Hlavcom' with reference to the message of the Teplik settlement council and the special purpose center of the National Guard of Ukraine 'Omega'.

Anatolii was born on January 19, 1997, in the village of Rososha in the Vinnytsia region. He decided to become a defender of his Homeland in childhood, so after graduating from school, he entered the Kharkiv Military School.

Major Anatolii Loyuk's comrades recalled that he joined the special forces unit 'Omega' of the National Guard as a boy, and over Time became a true warrior who was not afraid of anything or anyone.

With the onset of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, Anatolii Loyuk participated in the defense and liberation of the Kyiv region from the occupiers. Later, together with the unit, he carried out service-combat missions in eastern Ukraine.

To his friends, Anatolii confessed that he wanted to make a real feat. While performing one of the tasks, the commander of the second combat group of the third special forces group 'Omega' along with other guardsmen repelled three waves of enemy attacks. According to one of his comrades, Anatolii Loyuk managed to destroy seven units of enemy equipment.

For his combat professionalism, courage, and bravery, Anatolii Loyuk was awarded the rank of major and the highest award of the National Guard of Ukraine 'For valiant service'.

On the morning of March 31, 2023, in the area of the settlement of Avdiivka, Donetsk region, the occupiers struck the positions where Anatolii's unit was located with artillery fire. As a result of the shelling, Major Anatolii Loyuk received shrapnel wounds that led to his death.

The warrior was buried in his native village of Rososha in the Teplik community in the Vinnytsia region.

By the order of the Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine dated April 7, 2023, No. 253, Anatolii Loyuk was eternally enrolled in the lists of his military unit.

In June 2024, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Anatolii Loyuk the title of Hero of Ukraine (posthumously) with the Order of 'Golden Star' for personal courage and heroism exhibited in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and selfless service to the Ukrainian people.

The defender is survived by his mother, father, sister, and beloved girlfriend.

'Hlavcom' joins in a minute of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died in the struggle for the Motherland. We remember those who fell at the hands of Russian invaders, lighting candles of memory and bowing our heads in sorrow during the nationwide minute of silence, honoring the bright memory of the citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all the military, civilians, and children, all who died in the fight against the Russian occupiers and as a result of the attack of hostile troops on Ukrainian cities and villages.
