Chicken Prices Are Rising: Overview of March Prices in Ukrainian Supermarkets.

Prices for chicken meat in Ukraine continue to rise at the beginning of 2025. The average cost of chicken fillet is 183.43 UAH per kilogram, which is slightly higher than in February.
In various supermarkets, prices for chicken fillet range from 169 to 244 UAH/kg. It is worth noting that the fillet from the brand 'Epicure' costs 220 UAH/kg. There are also some discounts, for example, the brand 'Nasha Ryaba' offers fillet at 169.90 UAH/kg instead of 207.90 UAH.
Prices for whole chickens have also increased from 85.60 UAH/kg at the beginning of the year to 94.15 UAH/kg in March. The price difference is also reflected in other stores, for example, in 'Auchan' the whole chicken costs 86.60 UAH/kg, while in 'Silpo' it is from 85.50 UAH/kg.
According to a food market expert, the cheapest offers can be found in ATB, especially during promotions. For example, 'Nasha Ryaba' drumsticks can be purchased for 86 UAH/kg instead of 114 UAH.
Prices for chicken meat are rising due to several factors, including the rising cost of feed for poultry, increases in electricity tariffs, and the impact of military actions on logistics chains. The consumer price index for meat products in February showed a price increase of 1.45% compared to the previous month.
On the world market, an increase in chicken meat production of 2.5-3% is projected for 2025. In the European Union, production is expected to rise by 0.9% and consumption by 0.5%, which will amount to 25.2 kg per person.
Ukrainian economists predict that food prices will rise by 9.5% in 2025, but meat prices may rise more slowly - by about 2-5%.
Experts also note that meat prices may depend on seasonality and the yield of feed crops. Unfavorable weather conditions may lead to an increase in meat product prices.
