Tax Increase, Zelensky's Visit to France and the UK. Main Highlights of October 10.


Yesterday, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law on tax increases. The bill provides for the increase of various taxes, which will take effect by the end of the year. The law concerns taxation specifics during the period of martial law. In the session, 247 members of parliament voted in favor.
Yesterday, President Zelensky also visited France. There he met with President Macron. The politicians discussed the security situation and joint work in weapons production.
The President also asked Macron to assist in bringing about a just peace and the development of Ukraine. In particular, a victory plan was presented and strategic steps for achieving peace were discussed.
Another news item involves the death of journalist Roshina, who was held captive by the Russian Federation. The exact cause of her death is currently unknown, noting that she was preparing for an exchange. She had previously been detained by Russian military forces and was held in captivity for an extended period.
Finally, President Zelensky also visited the UK, where he met with Prime Minister Starmer. There they discussed the victory plan and announced joint work with allies.
