The tumor was the size of a palm. Doctors in Lviv saved a baby.

In Lviv, doctors saved a three-month-old girl who had a suffocating tumor in her lungs. This was reported by the First Medical Association of Lviv.
The child was brought to Lviv from Rivne in serious condition. Surgeons immediately performed an operation on Varvara, during which they removed the tumor that was compressing the child's heart and lungs.
'It only got worse because Varvara began to breathe through her stomach instead of her chest. And we noticed that when she got nervous, her nasolabial triangle turned blue. It was shortness of breath. She was signaling for help, but we didn’t understand right away,' the girl's mother recounts.
Doctors discovered a congenital progressive tumor in the lower left lobe of the lung in the infant. Varvara was in stage III respiratory failure.
'The tumor compressed the respiratory organs and shifted the heart to the right. The heart was beating stubbornly at 200 beats per minute instead of the normal 120-140. The child was fighting back, but her health was deteriorating,' the doctors reported.
The medical director of St. Nicholas Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv noted that if the child had not been sent from Rivne to Lviv, she would not have survived until morning.
'Varvara arrived to us in the evening in very serious condition - she could barely breathe. It was difficult for the anesthesiologists to conduct anesthesia. The surgical team barely managed to extract the tumor through the incision because it was the size of a palm. For such a small body, it was too large,' Kalinchuk emphasized.
The tumor along with the affected part of the lung was completely removed. Now Varvara is healthy, but she will not be able to become a professional athlete in the future.
Earlier, the Cherkasy Regional Perinatal Center managed to discharge a three-month-old child who was born prematurely and was the third child in the family.
In St. Luke's Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv, a 'unique operation' was performed to remove a brain tumor. The patient was conscious during the procedure.
