ISW predicts actions of Russian troops in winter.

According to experts from the Institute for the Study of War, Russian troops intend to focus on capturing Ukrainian cities in the winter of 2024-2025 and engage in street fighting to counter Ukrainian drones and restrictions on Russian armored vehicles.
The founder of the Telegram channel, Mykhailo Zvinchuk, claims that Russian troops will act actively in cities during the winter of 2024-2025, especially in Toretsk, Pokrovsk, and Kurakhove. His opinion is a loud expression in the Russian diaspora channel.
Zvinchuk also noted that Russian troops plan to involve more drones in the winter to improve their capabilities. He believes that better-prepared troops will be able to effectively counter Ukrainian drones.
Experts from the Institute for the Study of War emphasize that capturing Kupiansk or Chasiv Yar will have a significant impact on the geography of the front and threaten Ukrainian positions. They also stress the importance of Ukrainian drones in deterring Russian actions.
The Russian military command may attempt to conduct street fighting in cities, as buildings can provide better concealment from Ukrainian drones. Urban warfare would also help reduce costs on Russian armored vehicles and supplies.
