Zelensky named the condition for the elections in 2025.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the presidential and parliamentary elections can take place only after the active phase of the war is over and on the condition that Ukraine will be in a strong position.
'According to the Constitution, the presidential elections in Ukraine cannot take place during martial law. We either need to change the legislation. During martial law, changing legislation is impossible,' Zelensky emphasized in an interview on the air of a telethon.
The President also stressed that both the president and the parliament are legitimate authorities until new elections are held and new elected officials take their oaths.
At the same Time, Zelensky did not rule out the possibility of elections in 2025 if the situation at the front improves and Ukraine strengthens.
'If we have a strong army, weapons, and security guarantees, then we can think about lifting martial law. And if there is no martial law, then the parliament can determine the date of the elections,' the president explained.
In response to a question about the possibility of running for a second presidential term, Zelensky replied that it all depends on the outcome of the war: 'I don't know how this war will end. If I do more than I can - then perhaps I will look at this decision more positively. Right now, this is not a goal for me.'
